This 3D Printed Tortoise from MatMire Makes is a clever and lifelike model that combines realism with interactive design. It can both stand proudly and retract fully into its shell, thanks to a unique ball-and-socket joint system that allows for smooth, controlled movement.
Each leg features small ball and socket joints that let the tortoise lock into a standing position — simply pull the legs out as far as they’ll go until they snap securely into place, and your tortoise will stand on its own. When you’re ready to let it hide away, just pop the legs back in to retract it into its shell. (The joints may feel snug at first, but they’ll loosen up slightly with use for smoother motion.)
